The Coquette

Original oil painting on canvas.

Feminine, coy, glamorous, regal, and utterly dangerous, the subject’s allure exists just beyond reach. Her affection appears fleeting and elusive, a presence that, once withdrawn, leaves only longing in its wake.

“Why, Pigot, complain of this damsel's disdain,

Why thus in despair do you fret?

For months you may try, yet, believe me, a sigh

Will never obtain a coquette.”

— Lord Byron

This work is one of five monumental paintings created by JoliArtist, exploring themes of beauty, power, desire, and feminine mystique through large-scale portraiture.
